Hoag Champions Innovation as Presenting Sponsor of Greater Irvine Chamber's Innovator's Journey

As Hoag prepares to open the expanded Hoag Hospital Irvine Sun Family Campus this month, the health system is also helping the Greater Irvine Chamber spotlight the bold ideas shaping the future as Presenting Sponsor of Innovator's Journey, on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Karma Automotive Executive & Design Headquarters in Irvine.

The timing is especially fitting. As Hoag prepares to welcome patients to its expanded Irvine campus, it joins the Greater Irvine Chamber and Orange County's innovation community in exploring what becomes possible when vision is paired with leadership, collaboration, and action.

Earlier this year, the Greater Irvine Chamber named Hoag its 2026 Business of the Year in recognition of the organization's leadership, innovation, economic impact, and service to the community. Its transformational Irvine expansion exemplifies innovation at scale—bringing together advanced medical technology, specialized clinical expertise, and thoughtful, patient-centered design to reimagine the delivery of care.

The expanded Sun Family Campus will add six new buildings, 155 inpatient beds, 11 operating rooms, two additional procedure rooms, and 120,000 square feet of ambulatory facilities. New and expanded services will advance surgical innovation, cancer and digestive care, and women's health, while healing gardens, open-air spaces, and other wellness-focused elements are designed to create a more seamless experience for patients and families. The September opening marks a significant milestone in Hoag's continued investment in Irvine and its commitment to expanding access to world-class care throughout Orange County—making the organization a natural partner for an event centered on transforming bold ideas into real-world impact.

Hosted at Karma Automotive, the immersive Innovator’s Journey program will feature keynote speaker Errol Arkilic, chief innovation officer at UC Irvine and executive director of UCI Beall Applied Innovation, who will explore the complete innovation lifecycle and why market risk often outweighs technology risk when bringing new ideas to market.

Marcus McCammon, President of Karma Automotive, will deliver a signature executive address on how leadership, vision, and strategic execution continue to drive innovation within one of Southern California's most forward-thinking automotive companies.

Greater Irvine Chamber President & CEO Dave Coffaro will moderate an executive panel featuring Janelle Brunette, Chief Operating Officer of Octane and incoming Chief Executive Officer, Octane; Ryan Honary, Founder and CEO of SensoRyAI; Thomas Katavic, Head of Digital at Hoag; and Sarah Liang, Partner, Global Responsible AI Leader, and Americas Digital Risk Emerging Technology Solutions Leader at EY. Together, they will discuss how leaders across the innovation ecosystem are transforming breakthrough ideas into real-world impact through entrepreneurship, responsible AI, digital transformation, healthcare innovation, and emerging technologies that are reshaping industries and creating competitive advantage.

Attendees will also have a rare, firsthand opportunity to experience next-generation artificial intelligence in action through A live autonomous robotics demonstration from Field AI. The robot will navigate among attendees and even climb onto the stage, identifying obstacles, selecting the safest path, and continuously adapting its movements in real time.

Building on the demonstration, an on-stage Executive Conversation between Coffaro andTony Tran, Director of Business Development & Field Operations at Field AI, will explore how breakthrough technologies move from research and development to commercially viable solutions that improve business operations.

The experience extends beyond the program. All registered attendees will be automatically entered for three separate opportunities. One attendee will receive an exclusive Karma Vehicle Experience, offering rare, behind-the-scenes access not ordinarily available to the public, including a curated factory tour, test drive, Karma Design Studio visit, and lunch. A second attendee will receive a luxury Karma Merchandise Collection, and a third will take home a one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving centerpiece by Kate Flowers LA/OC, floral designer for Innovator's Journey.

Innovator's Journey, presented by Hoag, will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., at Karma Automotive Executive & Design Headquarters, 9950 Jeronimo Rd., Irvine.

Registration includes an executive networking reception, a chef-curated plated lunch, and complimentary parking.
