Cox Charities Awards $60,000 in Grants to Local Organizations with K-12 STEM Education, Sustainability, Veterans

Cox Charities awarded a total of $60,000 in grants to ten Orange County and Palos Verdes nonprofits with programs that meet the needs of our community and support K-12 STEM education, conservation and sustainability, and military and veterans. Cox Charities, a philanthropic foundation that is funded by employee donations matched by the company, has served California communities since 1999.

The 2023 nonprofit grant recipients in Orange County and Palos Verdes are:

  • My Creative PTSD for programs that support veterans by providing creative outlets to cope and heal including drawing, painting, sculpting, welding, wood working, and musical instruction.
  • Shea Therapeutic Riding Center for equine therapy, mental health, and customized riding programs for veterans with PTSD.
  • Orange County Coastkeeper for community beach clean ups.
  • Friends of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium for their STEAM educational filed trips for underserved students.  
  • El Toro High School for their STEAM education program including supplies and equipment that allows for field trips for high school students to put into practice their skillsets with elementary age students.
  • Project3R for the Ryan’s Partners for our Planet program which empowers students to build a better future.  
  • Orange County Rescue Mission for the Tustin Veterans Outpost program for homeless veterans and their families.
  • Bracken’s Kitchen for food rescue, culinary training and a community feeding program.
  • Crystal Cove Conservancy for an environmental engineering program for K-12 students.
  • Hope Harbor for a 12-to-18-month educational program for at-risk teenagers.

Established in 1999, Cox Charities’ giving programs are overseen by a diverse volunteer board of Cox employees who live and work in communities throughout San Diego County.
