The Irvine Valley Promise Program has exceeded its initial goal of enrolling 1,500 students for the incoming sixth cohort, reaching a record enrollment of nearly 1,800 students for Fall 2023. Sixty-five percent of cohort six students are eligible for the California College Promise Grant (CCPG), marking a 3.6% increase in economically disadvantaged students compared to the previous year's cohort.
A significant development is the rise of Hispanic/Latinx students as the largest racial/ethnic group within the program, comprising 32.2%. Cohort five began in Fall 2022 and is in its second year. Last year's cohort demonstrated impressive academic outcomes with an 83% persistence rate, an average cumulative GPA of 3.16, and an average of 33.24 cumulative units.
